Terms and Conditions

J-CASH Policies and Procedures

Your J-CASH account cannot be sold to another individual. Funds from your J-CASH account balance cannot be transferred to another account. There is a $25 returned check fee and you will be responsible for payment for all charges made against an insufficient balance. Your J-CASH account can be used year-round as long as you are a registered student. As such, your funds carry over from year to year.

Your J-CASH account closes:
A. When you are no longer a registered student. You have 24 months to request a refund for balances of $10.00 or more. A refund check will be processed and forwarded to your home address. Please allow 2-4 weeks. After 24 months any remaining funds will be forfeited.

B. If, as a registered student, you have not used your account for 24 months. At this time any remaining balance will be forfeited.

No other refunds are permitted, except at the discretion of the Office of ID Card Services and can be subject to a $20 administrative fee.

Your J-CASH funds are accessed via your J-CARD. If your J-CARD is lost or stolen, you must report is immediately to the University to prevent unauthorized access to your account.

J-CASH Account Initial Disclosure Statement

The Johns Hopkins University ("the University") is providing you with this initial disclosure in order to detail what rights you have when you use your J-CASH account which is accessed with your J-CARD. Please read the information on this disclosure carefully and in conjunction with the other information provided to you.

I. J-CASH ACCOUNT
You may sign up for a J-CASH Account by mail by completing the application included in the general brochure or in person at any one of the University's RAD (Rapid Account Depository) stations. Your initial deposit of $25.00 or more will open your account. Your J-CASH account will be available within 48 hours of receipt of payment if received by mail; if deposited in person by 3:00 p.m. Monday - Friday, will be available by 10:00 a.m. the next University business day. Additional funds of $15.00 or more can be added to your account at any time (checks or money orders only) at any RAD station. In addition you can open your account or deposit additional funds at any of the University's VTS (Value Transfer Stations) machines ( $1.00 minimum deposit - cash only) for immediate access to your funds. The account is a year-round declining balance account and will remain active as long as you are a full-time registered student or a current faculty or staff member.

The account is a record of pre-deposited funds accessed by the cardholder with your J-CARD for the purchase of products and service. There is no daily limit on the number of purchases that may be made and debited; however, no debits or charges shall exceed the amount of deposited funds. No interest shall be paid on any balance in the account. The cardholder agrees and understands that the J-CASH Account is not transferable and cannot be sold to another individual.

II. ACCOUNT ACCESS:
You may use your J-CASH for any service on and off campus that accepts your J-CARD for payment.

III. FEES
The University will not charge you any fees for the use of your J-CASH Account.

IV. CONSUMER LIABILITY
If your J-CARD is lost or stolen, you must report it immediately to the University to prevent unauthorized access to your account. During University business hours (8:30a.m. - 5:00p.m., Monday - Friday), you must call the J-CARD Office at 410-516-5121. At all other times, you must call the Office of Security at 410-516-4600. Once reported, your account will be frozen until you apply for a replacement card IN PERSON at the J-CARD Office, Garland Hall, between the hours of 10:00a.m. and 4:00p.m., Monday - Friday. You must then apply for a replacement card IN PERSON at the J-CARD Office, Garland Hall during the hours listed above. If reported within forty-eight (48) hours, you will be liable for unauthorized transactions up to $50. If you do not contact the J-CARD Office or Security within forty-eight (48) hours, you will be liable for unauthorized transactions up to the full amount of your J-CASH Account not to exceed $500.

V. CONFIDENTIALITY
We may disclose information to third parties about your J-CASH Account or the transfers you make, as allowable by law, to comply with government agency or court orders or if you give us your written permission.

VI. DOCUMENTATION
Cardholder statements reflecting transactions on your J-CASH Account are available upon request from the following offices:

(b) Support Services, MSE Library, 3400 N. Charles Street, Baltimore, Maryland 21218-2689

VII. ERROR RESOLUTION PROCEDURES
In case of errors or questions about your electronic transfers, contact the J-CARD Office in person, by phone (410-516-8694) or in writing (51 Garland Hall, 3400 North Charles Street, Baltimore, Maryland 21218-2689), or the Office of Support Services, MSE Library, 3400 N. Charles Street, Baltimore, Maryland 21218-2689, phone (410-516-8338). In your communication, be prepared to provide the University with the following information: (a) your name and J-CARD number; (b) a description of the error or transfer that you are unsure about; and (c) the dollar amount of the suspected error. Upon receiving information of a potential error, the University will begin its investigation. The University will attempt to provide you with the results of the investigation within ten business days (University business days include every day other than Saturday, Sunday, legal holidays, as well as other days the University closes) after you notify the University of the potential error; however, the investigation may take up to forty-five business days. If the University determines that no error was made, a written explanation will be sent to you within three days after the investigation is complete.

VIII. CHANGES TO THE INFORMATION ON THE DISCLOSURE
The information on this initial disclosure is being provided pursuant to Federal Regulations. These Regulations may be amended in the near future. If this occurs, you will be sent a revised disclosure statement. Where possible, the University will mail written notice of any changes to the J-CASH Policies and Procedures at least twenty-one (21) days before the effective date of those changes.
